Edward also owned the land from Derril Road to Moorooduc Highway along Tyabb Road.
Edward served as a Councillor with the Mornington Shire for many years and was also a Justice of the Peace.
The older Jones children attended the school on the corner of Moorooduc Highway and Tyabb Roads, the family and many descendants lived in the area for many years.
Edward, originally from North Wales, died in 1924, aged 83 years and is buried in the Mornington cemetery.
There were seven children in the family – born between 1869 and 1890 - and the property owned by Edward was eventually divided amongst them, 40 acres each.
Edward’s grandchild, eldest son of his son Charles, was William "Bill" Jones, so well known in the area, he was called "Mr Moorooduc".
