Richard Baines Bridge
Richard Bridge was born in Sussex England in 1831, the son of a Church of England Clergyman, and he arrived in Victoria in 1852.
Richard Bridge together with John George Smith opened their store In Main Street Mornington in 1879.
In 1884 Richard became the ratepayer of the property at the corner of Main Street and Queen Street, after acquiring it from Jane Jennings.
In 1884, at the age of 53, Richard married Caroline Callaway.
In the same year, he was listed as a Chemist and Druggist. At the time, Chemist was a relatively new occupation, derived from the more ancient craft of apothecary.
Richard died at Mornington aged 71 years on the 25th January 1902 and was buried in the cemetery 26th January 1902.
