Charles Allchin
Charles Ernest Allchin was born in Mornington to Sarah and Thomas Allchin, in 1872, and accidently drowned in the Football Disaster tragedy in May, 1892.
Charles was an architectural student and worked in Melbourne with a firm of architects. He was a young man of great promise and unusual intelligence.
He was a constant friend of the three Caldwell brothers, all of them being enthusiastic members of the Mornington Football Club.
Charles was working in the city, and travelled down to Mordialloc by train to meet his friends for the football match to be played that day.
After the match it was a sad circumstance for him that he induced one of the other players to give up his seat on the boat in order that he might accompany his friends on their return trip.
