John Frederick Bieri
Mr Bieri and his wife Bertha, originally from Switzerland, were longtime residents of Mornington, and were very active in community affairs.
Known as Fred, Mr Bieri and his wife were the proprietors of The Parkside Café and Boarding House in Main Street Mornington.

Fred was also a renowned pastry cook, and was a very popular caterer for weddings, social nights and picnics of every kind.
His enthusiasm for the young people of the town was shown when assisted by his two daughters Olga and Elsa, a swimming club and a gymnastics club were initiated by him.
Being a very active member of St. Andrews Church, he was involved in the formation of a Young Men’s Christian Association in the town.

He also served as a Councillor with the Mornington Shire Council, was a member of the Progress Association and the Foreshore Committee.
Last but not least Fred Bieri was Secretary of the Mornington Ambulance Service.
Mr Bieri , held in high esteem in the town, died following an operation in 1928, and was buried in the Mornington Cemetery.
